Error 0 - Drive Unit - Peak Current

Peak current detected in the motor. Check the battery, connectors, and wiring. Restart the e-bike system. Be sure to power down the system completely. If the problem persists, replace the drive unit.

Error 2 - Battery - Low voltage

The battery voltage is too low. Charge the battery with the original charger. If the problem persists, replace the batteries crosswise. The affected battery must be swapped.

Error 3 - Battery - Peak voltage

The battery voltage is too high. Restart the e-bike system. Make sure to turn the system off completely. If the problem persists, replace the battery. The battery in question needs to be replaced.

Error 4 - Drive Unit - Error in the electric motor

Restart the e-bike system. Make sure to turn the system off completely. If the problem persists, replace the drive unit or contact us.

Error 5 - Drive Unit - Incorrect motor parameter

Restart the e-bike system. Make sure to turn the system off completely. If the problem persists, replace the drive unit or contact us.

Error 8 - Drive Unit - No speed signal detected

Make sure the spoke magnet is properly positioned relative to the speed sensor. See the document "Installing the Speed ​​Sensor and Spoke Magnet." If the problem persists, check the speed sensor wiring and contacts. Restart the system.

Error 9 - Drive Unit - Software error

Restart the e-bike system. Make sure to turn the system off completely. If the problem persists, replace the drive unit or contact us.

Error 11 - Drive Unit - Error in lighting system

A peak current from the bicycle lights was detected.

The cause may be a short circuit or lighting that exceeds the maximum light output of the drive unit.

Check the bike lights and wiring. Disconnect the bike lights from the Drive Unit or swap them around. See the documents "Connectors and Cables" and "Bike Lights."

Restart the bike system after disconnecting or replacing the lights. Make sure to turn the system off completely.

If the problem persists, replace the Drive Unit.

Error 12 - Drive Unit - Error in the electrical measurement

Restart the e-bike system. Make sure to turn the system off completely. If the problem persists, replace the drive unit or contact us.

Error 13 - Drive Unit - Error in the torque sensor

Restart the e-bike system. Make sure to turn the system off completely. If the problem persists, replace the drive unit or contact us.

Error 14 - Drive Unit - Cadence sensor error

Restart the e-bike system. Make sure to turn the system off completely. If the problem persists, replace the drive unit or contact us.

Error 15 - Drive Unit - Cadence sensor error

Restart the e-bike system. Make sure to turn the system off completely. If the problem persists, replace the drive unit or contact us.

Error 16 - Drive Unit - Peak Current Display

A display surge was detected. This could be due to a short circuit or another display issue.

Check the display and wiring.

Replace the display crosswise, possibly with a different bike. (See the "Connectors and Cables" documents)

Restart the bike system after replacing the display. Make sure to turn the system off completely.

Error 17 - Drive Unit - Temperature sensor error

Restart the e-bike system. Make sure to turn the system off completely. If the problem persists, replace the drive unit or contact us.

Error 18 - Drive Unit - Temperature sensor error

Restart the e-bike system. Make sure to turn the system off completely. If the problem persists, replace the drive unit or contact us.

Error 19 - Drive Unit - Over Temperature

Allow the Drive Unit to cool.

Reduce the load on the motor by pedaling less or by lowering the support level.

Restart the e-bike system. If the problem persists, replace the drive unit or contact us.

Please note: The Brose Just Drive Comfort Display indicates this Error as Error-44

Error 20 - Display - Communication error

A communication error has been detected in the display.

Check the display and wiring. Swap the display and wiring. (See the "Connectors and Cables" documents.)

After replacing the display, restart the bike system. Be sure to turn the system off completely. If the problem persists, replace the drive.

Error 21 - Drive Unit - Under-voltage

Check the wiring and electrical consumers.

An undervoltage has been detected in the drive unit. This could be caused by a short circuit or other damage to connected equipment (display, lights, etc.).

Check all devices powered by the drive unit. Check for damaged wires or contacts. Swap the devices and wiring. (See the "Plugs and Cables" documentation.)

After replacing the display, restart the engine. Be sure to power down the system completely.

If the problem persists, replace the drive unit or contact us.

Error 22 - Drive Unit - Motor current measurement error

Check the wiring and electrical consumers.

An undervoltage has been detected in the drive unit. This could be caused by a short circuit or other damage to connected equipment (display, lights, etc.).

Restart the e-bike system. Make sure to turn the system off completely. If the problem persists, replace the drive unit or contact us.

Error 27 - Display - Communication error

Check the display and wiring.

A communication error has been detected in the display.

 Check the display and wiring. Swap the display and wiring. (See the "Connectors and Cables" documents.)

After replacing the display, restart the bike system. Make sure to turn the system off completely.

If the problem persists, replace the drive unit.

Error 28 - Drive Unit - Incorrect motor parameter

Replace the drive unit - Contact us.

Error 29 - Drive Unit - Hard shutdowns

Repeated hard shutdowns were detected.

These shutdowns are not caused by pressing the on/off buttons on the battery or display, but by suddenly disconnecting the drive from the battery voltage.

--> First check if the firmware is 7.4.1 or higher.

Versions above this one have a too-sensitive setting and can generate this error at any time. - First, update the firmware to 7.4.1. If it's lower, and the problem persists, follow the remaining steps.

For example, the problem could be caused by pulling the battery cable when the system is armed, damaged battery cables, damaged battery cable contacts, or other problems with the battery.


First, restart the system. Make sure you turn off the e-bike system using the appropriate buttons on the display or battery.

Caution: Do not pull the power cord while the system is on. Check the battery cables and the power contacts on the battery and drive unit sides.

Incorrectly secured contacts or damaged cables can cause wobbly contacts during travel and lead to hard disconnections.

If the problem persists, replace each part individually:
1. Power cord
2. Battery
3. Drive unit

Important:

Make sure you turn off the e-bike system by pressing the appropriate buttons on the display or battery before each change.

It is recommended to do a test drive after each replacement.

Error 30 - Battery - The battery is almost/completely discharged

Charge the battery. Charge the battery with the original battery charger.

Error 31 - Drive Unit - Motor blocked

Restart the e-bike system. Make sure to turn the system off completely. If the problem persists, replace the drive unit or contact us.

Error 32 - Drive Unit - Severe System Error

Restart the e-bike system. Make sure to turn the system off completely. If the problem persists, replace the drive unit or contact us.

Error 33 - Drive Unit - Severe System Error

Restart the e-bike system. Make sure to turn the system off completely. If the problem persists, replace the drive unit or contact us.

Error 34 - Drive Unit - Error in the Torque sensor

Restart the e-bike system. Make sure to turn the system off completely. If the problem persists, replace the drive unit or contact us.

Error 35 - Drive Unit - Error in the Torque sensor

Restart the e-bike system. Make sure to turn the system off completely. If the problem persists, replace the drive unit or contact us.

Error 36 - Drive Unit - Error in the Torque sensor

Restart the e-bike system. Make sure to turn the system off completely. If the problem persists, replace the drive unit or contact us.

Error 37 - Drive Unit - Peak Current Detected

Restart the e-bike system. Make sure to turn the system off completely. If the problem persists, replace the drive unit or contact us.

Error 38 - Drive Unit - Brake light failure

A peak current from the brake light was detected.

The cause could be a short circuit or lights that exceed the maximum light output of the drive unit.

Check the brake light and wiring. Disconnect the brake light from the Drive Unit or swap it crosswise. See the documents "Connectors and Cables" and "Bicycle Lighting."

Restart the Bike System after disconnecting or replacing the lights.

Make sure to power off the system completely.

Error 39 - Drive Unit - Incorrect motor parameter

Restart the e-bike system. Make sure to turn the system off completely. If the problem persists, replace the drive unit or contact us.

Error 41 - Battery - Low battery level

Charge the battery. Low battery. Charge the battery.

Error 42 - Drive Unit - No external speed signal detected

Check the alignment and operation of the external speed sensor.

Check the operation, positioning, wiring, and contacts of the external speed sensor. Restart the system.

Note: The external speed sensor isn't the standard e-bike speed sensor. It's an optional extra.

Error 43 - Drive Unit - External speed signal unlikely

Check the alignment and operation of the external speed sensor.

The external speed sensor is emitting invalid signals.

Check the operation and alignment of the sensor.

Check if the external speed sensor has been tampered

Error 44 - Drive Unit - Tampering Detected

Tampering detected. Check the external speed sensor(s) for tampering. Reboot the system. Contact us.

Error 45 - Drive Unit - Gear ratio outside the value range

The gear ratio of the e-bike is outside the range of the manufacturer-approved values.

This can be caused by swapping parts of the mechanical Drive Unit (chainring and cassette) or by tampering with the speed sensor.

Check the gear ratio of the installed drive components (chainring and cassette) according to the manufacturer's specifications.

Check the speed sensor for tampering.

Please contact us if you have larger size requirements.

Error 46 - Drive Unit - Gear ratio outside the value range

The gear ratio of the e-bike is outside the range of the manufacturer-approved values.

This can be caused by swapping parts of the mechanical Drive Unit (chainring and cassette) or by tampering with the speed sensor.

Check the gear ratio of the installed drive components (chainring and cassette) according to the manufacturer's specifications.

Check the speed sensor for tampering.

Please contact us if you have larger size requirements.

Error 47 - Drive Unit - Gear ratio outside the value range

The gear ratio of the e-bike is outside the range of the manufacturer-approved values.

This can be caused by swapping parts of the mechanical Drive Unit (chainring and cassette) or by tampering with the speed sensor.

Check the gear ratio of the installed drive components (chainring and cassette) according to the manufacturer's specifications.

Check the speed sensor for tampering.

Error 48 - Drive Unit - Belt drive

If a belt is damaged, the drive switches off immediately to prevent consequential damage to the mechanics.

Replace the belt using a belt replacement kit and restart the bike so that the error is deactivated again.

Error NOBATTERY - Battery - No battery connection

Check the battery wiring and contacts. If the problem persists, replace the battery.

Error NODISPLAY - Display - No display connection

Check the display's wiring and contacts. If the problem persists, replace the display.

Error TDA - Battery - Temperature Discharge Error

The battery temperature is too high. Bring the battery to an operating temperature between 0-40°C (32°F - 104°F).

Restart the e-bike system. Make sure to turn the system off completely. If the problem persists, replace the motor or contact us.

Error 23 - Battery - Error in the temperature sensor

Restart the e-bike system. Make sure to turn the system off completely. If the problem persists, replace the motor or contact us.

Error 24 - Drive Unit - Undervoltage

A Drive Unit undervoltage has been detected.

This may be caused by a short circuit or other damage to the connected equipment (display, lighting, etc.)

Check all devices powered by the Drive Unit. Check for damaged wires or contacts.

Swap the devices and wiring.

After replacing the device, restart the engine system. Be sure to turn the system off completely.

If the problem persists, replace the Drive Unit.

Error 25 - Drive Unit - Motor current measurement error

Restart the e-bike system. Make sure to turn the system off completely.

If the problem persists, replace the motor and/or contact us.

Error 26 - Drive Unit - Hard System Shutdowns

Restart the e-bike system. Make sure to turn the system off completely. If the problem persists, replace the motor or contact us.

Error 41 - Drive Unit - Peak Current

Restart the e-bike system. Make sure to turn the system off completely. If the problem persists, replace the motor or contact us.

Error 42 - Drive Unit - Electric Motor Malfunction

Restart the e-bike system. Make sure to turn the system off completely. If the problem persists, replace the motor or contact us.

Error 43 - Drive Unit - Motor short circuit

Restart the e-bike system. Make sure to turn the system off completely. If the problem persists, replace the motor or contact us.

Error 44 - Drive Unit - Overtemperature

Let the drivetrain cool down. Reduce the load on the motor by pedaling less or by lowering or turning off the support level. Restart the e-bike system. If the problem persists, replace the motor or contact us.

Error 45 - Drive Unit - Sensor error

Restart the e-bike system. Make sure to turn the system off completely. If the problem persists, replace the motor or contact us.

Error 46 - Drive Unit - Motor blocked

Error 60 - Display - Communication error

Error 72 - Drive Unit - Torque sensor error

Make sure the spoke magnet is in the correct position relative to the speed sensor.

Restart the system.

Error 82 - Drive Unit - Software Error

Restart the e-bike system. Make sure to turn the system off completely. If the problem persists, replace the motor or contact us.

Disclaimer: This update only works with Brose's Just Comfort display with the red color keys!

At the white key colors it doesn't work!

If you have a Marquardt just comfort display that only has 3 support steps and you want 4.

You have a Just comfort display and it gives the error Corrupt or missing file: Config.Json   

Then you can solve this by installing software version 1.8.1 on the display.

What is needed for this?
- a USB A to USB mini cable
- the bicycle on which the Just Comfort display is mounted
- The bicycle battery is preferably 100%, but in any case >80% charged - Updater Tool

QWIC error messages

QWIC's error messages are identical to those from Brose, except that a 2 is prefixed. Error 220 = Brose error 20. Therefore, for the non-matching errors listed below, please return to the Brose error messages. You can do this by pressing the "Back to Select Display" button.

ERROR 81 - Display/Battery - Communication failure

Check the wiring of the display and battery.

Also, check the battery connectors. There might be a short circuit somewhere.

If this problem is not resolved after swapping the components, please contact us.

ERROR 119 - Collection code

Connect the bike to the Brose Service Tool and run a full diagnostic. The corresponding error message should then be displayed. This can also be resolved with the QWIC Service Tool.

ERROR 234 - Battery - Drive Unit Connection Error - Torque Sensor Error

This error message may be caused by a short circuit or a Torquesensor error.

We kindly request that you carefully check the connection between the battery and the motor, especially the connectors in the battery compartment and the charging port. Corrosion can sometimes occur, especially around the charging port, which can then cause a short circuit. This can be easily cleaned with contact cleaner and/or a cloth or toothbrush.

If the problem persists, please contact us and we will remotely examine the engine using the Brose service tool.
