Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd. officially acquired the e-bike drive business of Brose SE effective August 1, 2025. Operations will be transferred to the newly established subsidiary Yamaha Motor eBike Systems GmbH (YMESG), based in Berlin. With this strategic acquisition, Yamaha significantly strengthens its position in the European e-bike market.
The sale of the e-bike division is part of a broader reorientation at Brose, which is refocusing entirely on its core business in the automotive industry. With the acquisition, Yamaha gains direct access to the complete product portfolio, development capacity, and experienced team of approximately 120 specialists in Berlin. These employees will remain active within the new organization, which focuses on the development, production, and service of e-bike drive systems.
During the transition phase, operations will continue with temporary support from Brose to ensure continuity for customers, dealers and OEM partners.
Support and warranty handling remain unchanged and are provided in the Benelux by E-Mobility Service, the official service partner of YMESG.
Per 1 Januari 2026 The brand name "Brose" will no longer be used for new products or communications. In accordance with legal requirements, the following wording will be used:
👉 “Service for former Brose products, now YMESG products.”
With this acquisition, Yamaha is taking an important step in the further internationalization of its e-bike activities and underscoring its ambition to respond to the growing demand for sustainable mobility solutions in Europe.
